We Breathe Life Into Data At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease. As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way. The Opportunity at Komodo Health The Data Infrastructure team at Komodo designs, builds, and maintains the foundational systems that power our data ecosystem: JupyterHub for data exploration, Airflow for workflow orchestration, Snowflake for scalable data warehousing, and Databricks for advanced analytics and machine learning. Beyond keeping these platforms reliable, scalable, and secure, the team owns data governance, cost and FinOps discipline, and compliance alignment (HIPAA, SOC2) across the stack. This role exists to architect and optimize Komodo's data infrastructure so that data access, processing, and analysis are seamless, performant, and cost-efficient. As the Staff Data Architect, you will own the reliability, performance, scalability, and governance of our Snowflake environment, while shaping its integration with Databricks and adjacent data stores. You will partner closely with analytics engineers, data scientists, infrastructure, and customer success teams, setting the standards the broader organization adopts while meeting the security and compliance demands of a rapidly evolving healthcare data landscape. Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished… Reduced database spend by at least 15% through optimization, automation, and warehouse right-sizing. Improved average query performance for critical workloads by 20% or more, meeting or exceeding established SLAs. Designed and implemented automated monitoring and alerting for anomalous warehouse usage, query slowdowns, and cost spikes. Established and documented Snowflake performance and cost management best practices, resulting in adoption by 70%+ of engineering and analytics teams. Delivered a reference architecture and standardized governance model (tagging, ownership attribution, and sensitivity classification) spanning Snowflake and adjacent platforms, improving cost transparency, compliance alignment, and the consistency of how teams build on the data platform. You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities… Own the architecture and long-term roadmap for Snowflake, define how it integrates with Databricks and adjacent data stores, and evaluate and pilot new features and cost-optimization tooling. Analyze query execution plans, optimize clustering and partitioning, and guide engineering teams toward efficient schema and query design. Monitor warehouse consumption, adjust scaling policies, and eliminate idle/overprovisioned compute. Implement automation to enforce cost controls. Build dashboards, scripts, and alerts for proactive performance and cost monitoring. Integrate Snowflake telemetry with observability platforms. Establish metadata tagging for cost attribution, sensitivity classification, and resource ownership; align with compliance requir
