POSITION SUMMARY: As a Mold Maintenance – Composites Technician, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and readiness of composite molds used in the production of high-performance marine structures. You’ll ensure molds remain in top condition to support precise layups, infusions, and part releases. Your work will directly affect quality, production uptime, and repeatability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Inspect molds before and after use for wear, damage, or contamination - Perform regular cleaning, polishing, and surface prep of mold tools - Repair surface imperfections, cracks, or flange damage using appropriate resins and fillers - Apply and maintain mold release systems (wax, semi-permanent coatings, etc.) - Track mold use cycles and support preventative maintenance schedules - Maintain mold storage systems and proper environmental controls - Assist in the modification or refinement of mold tooling for engineering changes - Collaborate with layup and finishing teams to resolve part release or mold alignment issues - Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspection findings - Maintain mold labeling system - Support scribing, dimpling, and installing flange monuments - Using electronic systems for tracking and performing work as assigned - Help develop and adhere to mold maintenance and repair standards REQUIREMENTS: - 2+ years of hands-on experience with composite molds in a production or prototyping environment - Strong working knowledge of mold preparation, release systems, and composite tooling materials - Ability to identify and repair common mold issues (scratches, pitting, delamination) - Familiarity with epoxy tooling systems, fiberglass or carbon fiber molds, and gelcoat repair - Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining high-gloss or tolerance-critical surfaces - Comfortable using power tools, polishing equipment, and hand tools - U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) required for DoD-related work PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with large-format molds used in marine, aerospace, or automotive composite fabrication - Knowledge of thermal cycling and dimensional control best practices - Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems - Experience working with both metallic and composite molds - Forklift or crane operation experience is a plus BENEFITS - Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services - Saronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents - Dental and Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine dental check-ups, orthodontics, and vision care - Saronic pays 99% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents - Time Off: Generous PTO and Holidays - Parental Leave: Paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parents - Competitive Salary: Industry-standard salaries with opportunities for performance-based bonuses - Retirement Plan: 401(k) plan - Stock Options: Equity options to give employees a stake in the company’s success - Life and Disability Insurance: Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage - Additional Perks: Free lunch benefit and unlimited free drinks and snacks in the office Saronic CCPA Notice for Candidates and California Employees https://saronic-assets-public.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/Saronic%20CCPA%20Notice%20for%20Candidates%20and%20California%20Employees.pdf If this role is based in the United States, it requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status.
