Talkiatry is seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Product Design to lead and grow our product design team. This is a high-impact role responsible for shaping the end-to-end design of our consumer-facing booking flows, patient portal, provider software, and internal operational tools. The ideal candidate will have the ability to both manage and mentor more junior designers, as well as contribute design work directly (while we are still growing the team). We’re looking for strong consumer product instincts, the ability to balance business objectives with patient and provider needs, and a passion for reimagining the future of mental healthcare. ABOUT TALKIATRY Talkiatry is transforming mental health care by making high-quality psychiatry more accessible, human, and sustainable for both patients and clinicians. Co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist, we were built to solve one of healthcare’s most urgent challenges: millions of people struggle to access mental health care, while clinicians face growing administrative burden and burnout. Through our technology-powered, in-network platform, we’re changing that, creating a better experience for patients and empowering clinicians to focus on delivering exceptional care. Today, Talkiatry is the largest dedicated psychiatry practice in the U.S., with 750+ psychiatrists, 250+ therapists, and more than two million patient visits delivered nationwide. At our scale, every innovation has real impact. Every workflow we improve, every technology solution we build, and every patient experience we redesign helps thousands of clinicians provide better care to hundreds of thousands of patients. We’re not just growing quickly — we’re redefining how behavioral healthcare is delivered in America. Joining Talkiatry means joining a mission-driven team that is solving complex problems at scale, driving meaningful change in healthcare, and building the future of mental health care with compassion, innovation, and purpose. YOU WILL: - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers (starting with two direct reports, and growing quickly), fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. - Serve as both a hands-on designer and team leader, contributing directly to design work while setting vision and direction. - Own the end-to-end design process for our patient booking flows, patient portal, provider software, and internal operations tools. - Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, clinical, and operations teams to deliver intuitive, effective, and delightful user experiences. - Balance user needs with business goals, effectively prioritizing work to maximize impact. - Craft and communicate a bold vision for how technology can transform mental healthcare, pushing beyond today's models to design the future. - Establish and maintain design systems in Figma, ensuring consistency and scalability across all products. - Leverage data, user research, and market insights to inform design decisions. - Champion the voice of patients and providers throughout the product development lifecycle. YOU HAVE: - 9+ years of professional product design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing consumer product design work. - 3+ years of people management experience, leading and developing design teams. - Proficiency in Figma, including prototyping, advanced workflows, AI and design system management. - Demonstrated ability to balance user experience, business objectives, and technical constraints. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across disciplines. - Interest in and excitement for using AI to improve and accelerate the product design and development process. - Visionary thinking with a passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in healthcare. - Experience designing for healthcare is preferred but not required. - Experience doing and/or managing product research is preferred
