In the initial months, you'll be working closely with the founding team, gradually taking ownership of central components. We are on the brink of something monumental, anticipating a tidal wave of traffic. You'll be at the forefront of ensuring our systems not only handle the influx but thrive under the pressure. We focus on performance and reliability, our traffic is live and our latency is the most important metric we need to watch. We work very closely with the backend team, helping everyone to bring code in production. Automation is key as it is for most of our industry, if you need to repeat a task, automate it; for everything. AS A LEAD SRE, YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE: VISION AND LEADERSHIP You’ll define and lead the long-term infrastructure vision and roadmap, ensuring amo’s systems remain reliable, scalable, and secure as we grow globally. You’ll guide a small, high-performing team of SRE engineers, setting a clear direction while staying close to execution. You’ll cultivate a culture of reliability, ownership, and technical excellence, one that balances speed and stability every day. SYSTEM DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT You’ll designing and maintaining distributed databases at large scale across multiple clusters (ScyllaDB). Along with testing, scaling, designing high throughput monitoring infrastructure to handle 1M+ series per second. AUTOMATION AND EFFICIENCY Our north star is to eradicate every manual step, automate everything from the ground up, and make it as quick as possible. That means automating everything from monitoring dashboards to database installations or cluster management. Including automated Kubernetes Pod Autoscaler to achieve close to 90% CPU usage per machine while maintaining high-quality services and containing costs. BACKEND TEAM PARTNERSHIP Partnering with software engineers is not a concept or part of a process, it’s our daily life, making us part of the engineering team as much as any other. And working with our partners (GCP, ScyllaDB, Redpanda …) to help us push their products to the limit. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENT You’ll code - being SRE at amo means being a Software Engineer. It also means building CI/CD pipelines, and bringing to production new concepts, new tools to help the company grow faster. YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Strong understanding of system architecture and software development. - Proficiency in at least one low-level language, ideally Rust or Go. - Strong knowledge with monitoring and alerting tools. - Experience with Kubernetes. - Knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure, including strong proficiency in AWS and/or GCP. - Proven success in scaling high-traffic production environments with a focus on reliability and performance. - Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and influence cross-functional teams. - Pragmatic, hands-on, and comfortable moving between strategy and execution. LIFE AT AMO To ensure that everyone is set up for success within our way of working, we work together onsite 5 days a week. We wanted to make sure coming to the office was as comfortable as possible for you: - We chose a location in central Paris, near Opera (Metro lines 3,8,9 and RER A). - We have a beautiful Parisian-style office with high ceilings, balconies, and huge windows. So a lot of natural light! Because life outside of work should also be stress-free, we cover: - Health care (100% coverage). - Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, Second Parent Leave (salary maintained at 100%). - Vacation days: 8-9 weeks (total) per year - (European summer? 🥹😎). - 5 weeks of paid time off (by the state); - 1-2 additional weeks (RTT, based on our company contract); - ~11 bank holidays. We shut down entirely twice a year, two weeks in summer and one week in winter to allow everyone to truly recharge and to avoid prolonged slowdowns (especially in the summer). These pauses are part of your total vacation time, giving everyone a real chance to unplug and recharge. No Slack...
