About the Role We're looking for a Credit Policy Expert to help define and evolve Clara's credit strategy as we continue to scale across Latin America. This is a senior individual contributor role on our Risk team, reporting to the Head of Credit Risk. You'll own the design, execution, and continuous improvement of our credit policies — balancing portfolio growth with responsible risk management across our key markets (Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia). This is not a support role. You'll be a decision-maker and a builder. You'll have direct influence over how we extend credit to thousands of businesses across the region, and your work will be visible at the highest levels of the company. In your first 12 months, you'll: Own and maintain Clara's credit approval policies and limit-setting frameworks for corporate clients across LatAm Define segmentation criteria and risk appetite thresholds by market, product, and client profile Partner with Data Science to develop and improve origination scorecards and behavioral models Lead credit policy reviews driven by portfolio performance data, economic signals, and product changes Work cross-functionally with Product, Finance, and Go-to-Market to ensure credit strategy enables growth Build and leverage AI-assisted tools to automate policy decisions and improve the speed and accuracy of credit assessments Translate complex risk analytics into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership Who you are We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Must haves 5+ years in a data-driven role within financial services , with direct experience in credit risk analytics , policy design, or acquisition strategy Strong grasp of statistical modeling , risk assessment techniques , and predictive analytics Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, or equivalent analytical tools Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytics into clear business actions Comfortable partnering with Data Science teams and understanding model outputs Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field Fluent in English and Spanish Thrives in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments Nice to haves Familiarity with AI tools to automate or optimize decision-making Background in a high-growth startup or fintech environment Familiarity with the credit regulatory landscape in Mexico, Brazil, or Colombia Basic Portuguese or a willingness to learn Why join Clara At Clara, you’ll have the autonomy, speed, and support to make meaningful impact — not just on your team, but on how organizations are run across Latin America.
