Insurance touches people during some of the most challenging moments in their lives. Hi Marley is on a mission to transform how the P&C industry communicates, making those moments faster, easier, and more empathetic for carriers and the customers they serve. We build AI-powered software that keeps everyone in the claims conversation informed and connected. If you believe insurance can combine operational excellence and automation with a human touch, we’d love to meet you. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Sr. Software Engineer who’s passionate about building high-quality software that makes a real impact. You’ll help deliver distributed, scalable systems that power meaningful connections between carriers and their customers. The ideal candidate brings experience developing in cloud environments and a pragmatic, hands-on approach to creating solutions — thoughtfully applying new technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, to solve complex problems and deliver meaningful outcomes. Teamwork and shared enthusiasm is a core part of our culture, which is why this role involves joining us in the Boston Office for 2-3 days each week. What You'll Do: Design, build, and deliver scalable, reliable software across the stack — developing distributed systems and data-driven features that support carrier and customer experiences with strong performance, reliability, and maintainability. Collaborate closely with product and design to translate customer needs into technical solutions that drive measurable value. Apply modern AI development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate implementation, testing, and documentation. Write clean, testable, and efficient code, continuously improving architecture and development practices through code reviews and refactoring. Contribute to technical strategy, balancing pragmatic decision-making with long-term scalability and system health. Mentor and collaborate with peers, helping elevate engineering standards and culture through example and feedback. What We’re Looking For: Typically has 6+ Years of Software Development Experience. Candidates with more experience are encouraged to apply as well. Proven track record of delivering high-quality applications and features to production. Experience designing and building distributed architectures, ideally in the AWS ecosystem, with a strong understanding of principles such as separation of concerns, scalability, and loose coupling Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code) to improve development workflows and productivity Strong experience with relational and document-oriented databases, including performance tuning and scaling. Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and frontend frameworks such as React. Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern code management practices. Passion for clean code, design patterns, and continuous improvement. At this time, we are only able to consider candidates who are currently authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship now or in the future. Compensation, Benefits & Perks: At Hi Marley, we are committed to fair and transparent pay practices. We recognize that experience and impact can vary across senior engineering levels. The annual base salary for this position is expected to fall within the following ranges, depending on level, experience, and demonstrated technical depth: Level I (typically 4+ years of experience): [$98,000-$182,000 annual base salary] Level II (typically 7+ years of experience): [$119,000-$221,000 annual base salary] It is most common for new hires to start near the midpoint of the range, allowing room for growth as employees develop in their role. In addition to base pay, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package that supports both your wellbeing and professional growth, including: Equity grants for all employees A 4% matching 401(k) program Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insu
