Hi, Future Homie! At Homebase, you’ll join a team that’s bold, fast-moving, and obsessed with helping small businesses thrive. We build with empathy, act with urgency, and take big swings that drive real-world impact. Here, every Homie shows up to raise the bar, support one another, and celebrate wins as a team. We’re not just building an app—we’re building unstoppable teams. So what do you say, are you in? 📍 Your Impact Starts Here We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Infrastructure/Developer Tooling) who’s passionate about building scalable systems and elevating the developer experience across the organization. You’ll play a critical role in shaping Homebase’s AWS-based infrastructure and internal tooling strategy - driving technical direction, influencing architecture, and enabling teams to move faster with confidence. This is a high-impact role where you’ll operate as both a technical leader and a force multiplier for engineering velocity. These are the key ways you'll contribute and create impact in this role: - Lead the design and evolution of infrastructure, developer platforms, and internal tooling that enable Homebase engineers to build, test, and ship efficiently at scale - Own and deliver large, ambiguous problem spaces end-to-end — from identifying opportunities, defining problems, and designing architecture to implementing and rolling out scalable solutions - Build scalable backend services, automation systems, and internal developer tools using Ruby, Golang, and modern software engineering practices - Architect and optimize AWS infrastructure for reliability, scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance - Improve developer workflows by identifying friction points and building thoughtful, product-minded solutions that increase engineering velocity and reduce operational overhead - Set technical direction and best practices for infrastructure, platform engineering, and developer experience, influencing decisions across teams - Act as a technical leader and escalation point for complex infrastructure, platform, and production challenges - Mentor junior engineers, partnering with them on projects they lead and supporting their growth through hands-on collaboration and guidance - Partner cross-functionally with product, platform, and security teams to align infrastructure and developer tooling investments with business goals - Drive innovation through experimentation with AI-powered observability, automation, and workflow improvements - Continuously improve system reliability and developer productivity through metrics, feedback loops, and iterative enhancements 🚀 The Foundation for Success - These are the experiences and strengths that will set you up for success in this role: - 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related fields - Strong experience building production software and internal tooling using Ruby and/or Golang (Python experience is also valuable) - Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and deliver outcomes across ambiguous or undefined problem spaces, from problem definition and architecture through implementation and rollout - Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, API development, debugging, testing, and maintainable architecture patterns - 3+ years of experience with AWS or other cloud platforms in production environments - Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), CI/CD systems, and modern cloud infrastructure practices - Strong understanding of containerized systems, distributed architectures, and deployment workflows - Demonstrated impact improving developer experience and internal tooling through data-driven decisions and strong product thinking - Strong expertise in observability, reliability, and incident response practices - Experience serving as a technical leader in on-call rotations, handling incidents and guiding resolution - Experience mentoring engine...
