About the role Chime’s Legal team is seeking a Lead Counsel, Litigation and Regulatory to help manage the company’s growing litigation docket and regulatory matters. In this role, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of litigation matters, including consumer litigation, class actions, commercial disputes, and regulatory investigations and enforcement actions. You will advise business partners on litigation and regulatory risk, help shape Chime’s dispute resolution strategy, and leverage data, analytics, AI-enabled technologies, and other emerging tools to drive operational excellence across the Legal function. Our ideal candidate is a proactive, business-minded attorney with strong judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge fintech issues at an industry-leading company while helping build scalable legal processes for a rapidly growing business. The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $177,000.00 and up to $245,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience. In this role, you can expect to Lead a broad litigation portfolio, including consumer litigation, class actions, commercial disputes, and related regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement matters. Develop and implement litigation and regulatory strategies that align legal risk management with business objectives. Manage outside counsel relationships, including strategy, staffing, budgets, and performance. Investigate, assess, negotiate, and resolve disputes, regulatory matters, and enforcement actions. Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Risk, Finance, People, Product, and other stakeholders on litigation and regulatory matters. Leverage data, matter metrics, AI-enabled technologies, and other innovative tools to improve legal decision-making, operational efficiency, and risk management. To thrive in this role, you have 7+ years of combined law firm and in-house litigation and regulatory experience, including experience in financial services, fintech, or another highly regulated industry. Experience handling consumer financial services litigation, class actions, consumer protection matters, and regulatory inquiries or investigations. Demonstrated success managing complex litigation and regulatory matters and achieving favorable outcomes. Experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets. Experience leveraging technology, data, and AI-enabled tools to improve legal operations and business outcomes. Strong business judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
