WHAT WE'RE DOING At Synctera, we’re powering the future of FinTech. We help companies create new revenue streams and enhance their value proposition with FinTech apps and embedded banking products. With APIs, compliance support, and bank partners in one end-to-end Banking as a Service platform, Synctera is the fastest and easiest way to build, launch, and scale bank accounts, debit cards, charge cards, lending, and more. We help banks increase deposits and non-interest income by expanding their footprint through FinTech and embedded finance partnerships. The Synctera Platform enables banks to manage their program through a fully compliant, scalable solution. We are looking for interesting, curious, wickedly smart people who are ready to jump in and run with our fast-growing team. If you want to have fun at work, collaborate with some of the sharpest people in the industry, grow the FinTech and Banking as a Service ecosystem, and love to win, read on! HOW WE BUILD At Synctera, engineers do more than maintain existing systems. They help design and build new platform capabilities that directly shape how our products work and how the company scales. Our teams are small, which means senior engineers have real ownership: defining approaches, making technical tradeoffs, shipping production code, and improving systems over time. You can move quickly from idea to production, and your decisions have visible impact on both the product and the platform. This role is a fit for someone who wants to build in a real-world, high-stakes environment: backend systems that need to be reliable, secure, scalable, and auditable because they support financial compliance and banking operations. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Cable team and build core platform capabilities in Go. You’ll build new features and products that automate financial compliance and banking operations at scale, and design major components across our stack where data privacy, auditability, and large-scale bank data all matter. Recent projects senior engineers have led include: - A new auth and SSO stack - A new notifications system - A major re-architecture of our data pipeline - A customer-facing AI feature that extracts structured signals from unstructured compliance documents WHAT WE BUILD WITH Our backend services are primarily written in Go. Our frontend is React with TypeScript. We run on Google Cloud Platform and commonly work with Postgres, Redis, Pub/Sub, Kubernetes, Cloud Run, Terraform, and OpenAPI-based service contracts. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build, ship, and operate backend services in Go for production use cases with real reliability and correctness requirements. - Design systems that process high-volume, event-driven data with clear audit trails and reproducible behavior. - Extend and improve existing platform capabilities without adding unnecessary complexity. - Partner closely with Product and Engineering to turn ambiguous financial-services problems into concrete technical solutions. - Build customer-facing AI features that apply LLMs and ML models to real compliance problems, with attention to evaluation, latency, cost, and failure handling in production. - Help raise engineering quality through strong technical judgment, mentoring, and pragmatic decision-making. WHAT YOU'LL BRING - 6+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer - Proven experience building and operating production backend systems in Go - Solid hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database in production - Experience designing or maintaining event-driven or data-intensive systems - Experience working on systems where correctness, auditability, and reproducibility matter - Experience shipping at least one customer-facing AI feature to production, or directly owning a production AI workflow with real users and measurable outcomes - Comfort working on a small team with broad ownership and high expectations for
