Scopely is looking for a Web Tools Backend Engineer to serve on and elevate our new casual game, Monopoly GO! team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis. What You Will Do As a Web Tools Backend Engineer, you will help build and evolve the backend systems that power our internal tools, with a strong focus on configuration workflows, tooling reliability, and developer efficiency. You will work primarily in C# backend development, designing and maintaining the services, APIs, and data flows that enable game teams to manage live game content safely and efficiently. Design, build, and maintain backend systems for internal tools used to configure and operate live game features Develop APIs, services, and supporting workflows to enable safe, scalable configuration management Partner with game teams, product managers, and internal users to understand operational needs and translate them into robust backend solutions Improve the reliability, maintainability, and observability of internal tooling systems Contribute to architectural decisions through code reviews, helping raise the engineering bar across the team Help define best practices for backend development, service design, and configuration handling Support the evolution of tooling platforms that improve development speed and reduce operational risk for live game teams Mentor other engineers through technical guidance, pair programming, and collaborative problem solving What We're Looking For Strong experience in C# backend development, building services, APIs, and internal tooling Experience designing and maintaining server-side systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability Solid understanding of data modeling, configuration-driven systems, and backend architecture Experience working with web APIs, service integrations, and database-backed applications Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex technical and operational workflows Ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and turn ambiguous needs into practical backend solutions Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset A commitment to engineering quality, clean code, and continuous improvement Explore AI-assisted tools (LLMs, copilots, automation frameworks) to improve productivity, enhance analysis depth, and accelerate iteration cycles Bonus Points Experience building or supporting internal tools or CMS platforms Experience with game live operations or configuration systems in games or other content-driven products Familiarity with frontend technologies sufficient to collaborate effectively with UI engineers, though this is not a frontend-focused role Experience with observability, deployment pipelines, and production support practices Familiarity with game development workflows About Scopely Scopely is a leading video game and global interactive entertainment company, home to many of the world’s most beloved and enduring experiences, including two of the most successful mobile games of all-time “MONOPOLY GO!” and “Pokémon GO,” along with “Stumble Guys,” “Star Trek™ Fleet Command,” “MARVEL Strike Force,” “WWE Champions,” the Scrabble® franchise, “Yahtzee® With Buddies,” and many others.
