About Rippling Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system. Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds. Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes. We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @ Rippling.com addresses. About the role Rippling is expanding its Managed Payroll offering in the US, and we’re looking for a Managed Payroll Specialist to join the team at a pivotal moment. This is an early-stage client service and operational role at the intersection of payroll execution, customer experience, and product development. As a Managed Payroll Specialist, you will own the end-to-end payroll experience for a portfolio of US customers — running payroll on their behalf, proactively managing the customer relationship, and acting as a frontline expert for everything from routine pay runs to complex edge cases. You will work directly with customer accounts, applying the highest standards of accuracy and auditability to every action you take. This role demands more than technical payroll knowledge. You will be working within a high-growth, fast-moving service model where priorities shift, no two customer accounts are the same, and the ability to think on your feet, adapt quickly, and find solutions independently is just as important as executing the fundamentals well. You will be expected to stay ahead of complexity, communicate clearly and proactively, and bring a genuine service-delivery mindset to everything you do. Rippling is an AI-forward environment, and this role is no exception. Automation and AI-assisted workflows handle the busy work, freeing you to focus on what matters most: delivering an exceptional customer experience and navigating the complexity that no tool can fully anticipate. Comfort with — and curiosity about — evolving technology is a must. You will work closely with Payroll Operations, Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Customer Support, and you will serve as a key feedback loop between what customers experience and what the product needs to improve. This is a US-remote based role - we are not hiring in San Francisco or New York. What you will do Own the end-to-end payroll cycle for a portfolio of US customers — data collection, pre-validation, entry, and approval coordination — with full accuracy and audibility Conduct pre-validation reviews ahead of each pay run, flagging unapproved timecards, incomplete onboarding, pending time-off, rate changes, and qualifying life events Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts; proactively anticipate escalation points and address them before they reach the customer Communicate clearly and professionally at every stage of the pay run cycle, translating complex payroll scenarios into straightforward, actionable updates Play an active role in building the Managed Payroll program — defining SOPs, contributing to tooling requirements, and shaping the service model as the product and operations mature together Partner with Product and Engineering to surface edge cases, document bugs, and help prioritise improvements based on real customer impact Actively use and help refine automation and AI-assisted workflows within the Managed Payroll process What you will need 3+ years of hands-on US managed payroll experience, ideally covering multi-state payroll processin
