About the Position The Associate General Counsel will be a key member of Vetcove’s legal team and a trusted partner to teams across the business. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a high-growth startup environment, brings a strong work ethic and ownership mindset to every project, enjoys tackling problems big and small, and wants to help build the legal infrastructure for a rapidly expanding technology company operating in highly regulated markets. You will work closely with Vetcove’s legal team, business leadership, product, and operations teams on a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracting, product counseling, regulatory analysis, privacy, data security, intellectual property, and strategic growth initiatives. You should be excited to jump into new areas, master unfamiliar legal frameworks, and help the business move quickly while thoughtfully managing risk. About our Team Vetcove’s legal team is deeply embedded in the business and works cross-functionally across nearly every major company initiative. We support a suite of products serving veterinary hospitals, corporate veterinary groups, manufacturers, distributors, animal health suppliers, and pet parents, which means our legal work touches SaaS, ecommerce, marketplace operations, pharmacy, veterinary practice regulations, FDA, DEA, privacy, telecommunications, consumer protection, and emerging technology. We move quickly and expect our lawyers to be practical, proactive, and business-minded. You will not be limited to a narrow legal lane. Instead, you will be expected to understand the company’s products, customers, commercial goals, and regulatory environment, and to help craft thoughtful, scalable solutions. This is a role for someone who wants to become a true partner to business leadership and help shape the legal strategy of a company building the future of veterinary care. What you’ll do - Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, MSAs, SOWs, order forms, NDAs, DPAs, vendor agreements, distribution agreements, partnership agreements, and other strategic commercial contracts - Partner closely with business leadership, product, operations, and finance to support enterprise deals and strategic initiatives - Advise on product development and product launches, including identifying legal risks and developing practical, business-oriented solutions - Develop expertise in new and evolving legal areas relevant to Vetcove’s business, including telecommunications, consumer protection, privacy, FDA, DEA, veterinary practice laws, pharmacy laws, ecommerce, marketplace regulation, and related compliance frameworks - Help translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical guidance for product, engineering, operations, and business teams - Support strategic growth initiatives, including new products, new markets, new commercial models, and new regulated workflows What you should have - 5-8 years of legal experience, including experience at a top-tier law firm - J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state b
