Each month more than 50 million aviation enthusiasts visit Flightradar24 (app/website) and our Commercial services team has many of the biggest names in aviation on its customer list. We’re looking for a seasoned Staff Mobile Engineer, Tech Lead to take ownership of our mobile technical direction across both iOS and Android. In this role, you will act as the technical anchor for our mobile teams, driving architecture decisions, shaping our long-term strategy, and mentoring a team of 10 engineers. While your core expertise is within iOS, you bring a cross-platform mindset and are comfortable bridging the gap between iOS and Android to ensure consistency, scalability, and excellence across both platforms. The position requires that you are able to work from our office in Stockholm, Sweden. Relocation is not offered for this role. What you’ll do In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of our mobile technical direction, shaping how we build, scale, and evolve our apps across both iOS and Android. You’ll operate at the intersection of hands-on engineering, architecture, and leadership – setting the standards for how a high-performing mobile team works. You will play a key role in modernizing our mobile platforms, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring a consistent and scalable approach across both ecosystems. At the same time, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless user experiences to millions of users worldwide. Your responsibilities include: Owning the mobile technical roadmap, including architecture, engineering standards, and long-term scalability across iOS and Android Leading the evolution of our iOS platform while driving cross-platform alignment in architecture, patterns, and best practices Modernizing and refactoring our codebase into a modular, testable setup, while improving CI/CD, build performance, and release workflows Collaborating closely with engineering, product, design, and QA to deliver high-quality user experiences at a global scale Mentoring and guiding engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement Current tech stack iOS: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, async/await Android: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose Architecture: MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization CI/CD: Fastlane, Xcode Cloud, GitLab Who you are You are a senior mobile engineer with a strong foundation in iOS development and a genuine interest in building scalable, high-quality mobile products. To succeed in this role, you have experience from mentoring engineers, and ideally have previous experience working in a Tech Lead or similar leadership role. You have experience working with complex systems and understand what it takes to modernize and evolve a mobile codebase over time. While iOS is your core strength, you are confident navigating cross-platform environments and contributing to alignment across iOS and Android teams. You care deeply about code quality, testing, and developer experience, and you take pride in building maintainable, well-structured solutions and great end-user experience. At the same time, you are a collaborative and communicative team player who enjoys mentoring others and creating alignment across teams.
