POSITION TITLE: Project Director LOCATION: Jakarta or Makassar, Indonesia REPORTS TO: Portfolio Director, Human Rights Winrock International is a nonprofit organization that works with people in the United States and around the world to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity, and sustain natural resources. Winrock has a long work history of addressing environmental, economic and social issues in Indonesia. Winrock International is seeking a full-time Project Director for a U.S. Department of Labor-funded project that works with the government, private sector and civil society to strengthen labor protections and address concerns in the critical mineral supply chain in Indonesia. This position is not eligible for international allowances. POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Director will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a results-oriented project to promote responsible labor practices in the critical mineral supply chain in Indonesia and foster system-level changes that advance worker protections, address child and forced labor risks, and support grievance remediation. The Project Director is responsible for the overall technical strategy and project management and will report to Winrock’s Home Office. S/he will maintain systems for project operations; ensure that all deadlines are met and targets are achieved; and coordinate and maintain working relationships with project stakeholders. This includes private sector partners and industry associations, government ministries, subgrantees, and rightsholders, and serve as the primary POC for DOL. S/he will lead collaborative initiatives to ensure all approaches are sustainable and evidence based. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: · Establish and manage partnerships with national and local government entities, international and local businesses and businesses associations, civil society, workers organizations, and multi-sectoral groups and bodies. · Work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve measurable improvements in responsible labor practices and reduce forced labor in mineral mining and processing. · Lead timely planning and implementation of project activities. · Design, convene, and facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue platforms (national and sub-national) to drive coordinated action and measurable improvements in responsible labor practices and forced labor reduction in mineral mining and processing. · Oversee a private sector engagement strategy spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream actors to reduce labor risks and improve labor management. Engage business associations and anchor firms to catalyze collective action, including supplier requirements, capacity building, remediation approaches, and shared learning · Oversee project subgrantees and compliance with Winrock, funder, and Indonesian policies. · Liaise with external stakeholders such as multilateral organizations, donors, and others to maximize impact and prevent duplication. · Oversee monitoring and evaluation of project implementation and recommend areas for course correction. · Oversee project budget and ensure that all financial activity is carried out in accordance with annual budget allocations, Winrock policy, and donor guidelines. · Maintain close communication with Winrock Home Office and provide ongoing formal and informal updates on project progress and escalate issues for timely resolution. · Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and management of project staff; build and sustain a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, coaching and mentoring staff, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture. · Establish and manage performance management systems, including workplanning, regular check-ins, performance feedback, and annual reviews aligned with project objectives and Winrock policies. · Regularly travel to monitor and participate in project activities. · Other duties as assigned.
