Staff Software Engineer

We are super excited to announce that Jimmy Sigwid is now looking for our next Staff Software Engineer to join our Data & Integrations product area and to start working in Team Points. Our mission is to make loyalty, incentives and customer data scalable, reliable and actionable across Voyado’s platform, enabling retailers to create seamless and personalized experiences at scale. A key focus going forward is evolving our platform architecture to better support larger enterprise customers, stronger scalability requirements and more decoupled domain ownership through event-driven patterns and service-oriented design. We work in short feedback loops, close collaboration with stakeholders and a strong belief that progress comes from learning and iteration — not just shipping. About the role The Points team owns one of the most business critical parts of Voyado’s platform — the logic behind loyalty points, rewards, incentives and member-related experiences across markets. Right now, the team is in the middle of a major technical transition focused on improving scalability, performance and domain ownership. A large part of the work involves evolving towards more event-driven and service-oriented solutions while reducing tight coupling to shared customer data structures. This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex backend and architectural challenges at scale. You’ll work hands-on with backend development, distributed systems and platform evolution while driving technical initiatives across teams. The role combines deep technical work with collaboration, mentoring and long-term architectural thinking. You’ll help shape both the platform and the engineering culture while supporting the team through complex technical change. So, who are you? We’re looking for a senior backend engineer with strong technical depth who enjoys solving complex architectural challenges and contributing beyond implementation alone. You don’t need experience from our exact stack, but we believe you have worked with several of the following: Backend development in C#, .NET, Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar Distributed systems, cloud-native services and event-driven architectures REST APIs, asynchronous workflows and message-based systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or Azure Service Bus SQL databases, transactional consistency and scalable data handling Observability, automated testing and secure engineering practices We also think you: enjoy driving technical direction and improving engineering practices are comfortable mentoring and supporting other engineers collaborate well across teams and stakeholders thrive in complex and evolving environments are curious about both the technical and business impact behind the systems you build use AI coding tools as a natural part of software development, and see AI-assisted engineering as an important capability going forward as we continue our journey toward becoming AI-native. Experience within loyalty, incentives, retail, fintech or large-scale transactional systems is considered a strong plus. What's in it for you?
